เอเชียนทัวร์จัดศึกอินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ สองรายการติดต่อกันที่ประเทศไทย ชิงเงินรางวัลรวมรายการละ 2 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ หรือประมาณ 66 ล้านบาท เริ่มจากรายการ แบล็ค เมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ แข่งขันระหว่างวันที่ 17-20 ตุลาคมนี้ ที่สนามแบล็คเมาน์เท่น กอล์ฟ คลับ หัวหิน จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ต่อด้วยรายการ อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ ไทยแลนด์ ชิงชัยที่สนามไทยคันทรีคลับ จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา ระหว่าง 24-27 ตุลาคม ทั้งสองทัวร์นาเมนท์เป็นรายการ 5 และ 6 ในสิบรายการของอินเตอร์เนชั่นเนล ซีรีส์ ปีนี้
ความเคลื่อนไหวของกอล์ฟรายการ แบล็คเมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ ล่าสุดเมื่อวันพุธที่ 16 ต.ค. เป็นรอบโปรแอมโดยมีตัวแทนผู้เล่นชั้นนำของเอเชียน ทัวร์ ประกอบด้วย รฐนน วรรณศรีจันทร์ แชมป์เอสเจเอ็ม มาเก๊า โอเพ่น 2024 เมื่อสัปดาห์ที่แล้ว, สุธีพัทธ์ ประทีปเธียรชัย แชมป์หยางเต๋อ ทีพีซี ที่ประเทศไต้หวัน เมื่อเดือนกันยายนที่ผ่านมา และจอห์น แคทลิน โปรกอล์ฟชาวอเมริกัน ผู้นำคะแนนสะสมเอเชียนทัวร์ ออร์เดอร์ ออฟ เมอริต ให้สัมภาษณ์ถึงความพร้อมก่อนลงแข่งรอบแรกในวันรุ่งขึ้น
โปรฟลุ๊ค-รฐนน วรรณศรีจันทร์ ที่เพิ่งคว้าแชมป์เอสเจเอ็ม มาเก๊า โอเพ่น เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมา ทำผลงานรายการนี้ที่อันดับ 5 ร่วมเมื่อปี 2022 ส่วนปีที่แล้วไม่ผ่านการตัดตัว เผยว่า “ตั้งแต่ต้นปีมาก็ยังลุ่มๆ ดอนๆ หลังคว้าแชมป์มาเก๊า โอเพ่น มาก็รู้สึกโล่งและสบายใจมากขึ้น วันนี้ได้เล่นโปรแอม อากาศค่อนข้างร้อนมาก แทบไม่มีลมเลย สำหรับสนามนี้ต้องไดร์ฟให้อยู่ในแฟร์เวย์และขึ้นกรีนไปในจุดที่เล่นง่าย ถ้าอยู่ผิดเหลี่ยมอาจทำให้เสียแต้มได้ง่าย ส่วนตัวผมสำหรับรายการนี้ยังไม่อยากคาดหวังมาก แค่อยากให้คนไทยใครก็ได้คว้าแชมป์ เพราะมีโอกาสที่มาจัดที่ประเทศไทยแล้ว”
โปรตี้-สุธีพัทธ์ ประทีปเธียรชัย ที่ผ่านมาจบอันดับที่ 15 อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล ซีรีส์ ไทยแลนด์ 2023 โดยล่าสุดคว้าแชมป์หยางเต๋อ ทีพีซี ที่ไต้หวัน เมื่อเดือนกันยายนที่ผ่านมา เผยว่า “ผมเตรียมร่างกายเยอะมากสำหรับรายการนี้ เพราะเล่นติดต่อกันมา 3 สัปดาห์แล้ว พยายามเซฟร่างกายให้มากที่สุด เพราะอากาศที่นี่ร้อนมาก พยายามดื่มน้ำเยอะๆ ปีนี้สภาพสนามยากขึ้นกว่าเดิม และรัฟจะยาวกว่าทุกครั้งที่มาเล่น สนามนี้อยู่ที่ลูกเสิร์ฟถ้าอยู่แฟร์เวย์ก็อาจทำแต้มได้มาก ตอนนี้นักกอล์ฟไทยเก่งขึ้นเยอะ หวังว่าจะมีคนไทยขึ้นไปอยู่บนลีดเดอร์บอร์ด ส่วนโอกาสคว้าแชมป์ของผมไม่รู้ว่ากี่เปอร์เซนต์ แต่จะพยายามทำให้ดีที่สุด”
ขณะที่ จอห์น แคทลิน นักกอล์ฟชาวอเมริกัน เจ้าของแชมป์ยูโรเปียนทัวร์ 3 รายการ และแชมป์เอเชียน ทัวร์ 6 รายการ ล่าสุดชนะรายการอินเตอร์เนชันแนลซีรีส์ มาเก๊า เมื่อเดือนมีนาคมที่ผ่านมา ลงชิงชัยในฐานะผู้นำคะแนนสะสมเอเชียนทัวร์อยู่ในเวลานี้ กล่าวว่า “ผมรู้สึกมั่นใจมากเพราะคุ้นเคยกับสนามนี้เป็นอย่างดี ผมรู้สึกสบายใจมาก ผมเคยอาศัยอยู่ที่หัวหินมา 5-6 ปี ทุกครั้งที่ผมได้มาหัวหินมันถือเป็นโบนัสเสมอ และการอยู่ในฟอร์มที่ดีก็เป็นโบนัสอีกอย่างหนึ่ง ผมจึงตั้งตารอสัปดาห์นี้ที่จะต้องสนุกอย่างแน่นอน ผมรู้ว่าผมจะทำเกมในสนามนี้อย่างไร และเคยเห็นมาหมดแล้วทุกสภาพที่แตกต่างกัน ผมคิดว่ามันเป็นข้อได้เปรียบอย่างแน่นอน”
“สำหรับการแข่งขันอีก 6 รายการที่เหลือในอินเตอร์เนชันแนล ซีรีส์ สำคัญเสมอสำหรับผม ผมจะพยายามอย่างหนักเพื่อให้เล่นได้ดีขึ้นกว่าที่เป็นอยู่ ผมต้องทำสิ่งที่ทำอยู่ให้ดีที่สุด เหลือการแข่งขันอีก 6 รายการ ขึ้นอยู่กับว่าใครจะทำได้ดีที่สุด และคนที่เล่นกอล์ฟได้ดีที่สุดจะเป็นผู้ชนะ และผมแค่ต้องการให้แน่ใจว่าผมจะทำสำเร็จ” แคทลิน ทิ้งท้าย
สำหรับกอล์ฟรายการแบล็คเมาน์เทน แชมเปี้ยนชิพ 2024 สัปดาห์นี้มีนักกอล์ฟลงแข่งขันทั้งสิ้น 150 คน ในจำนวนนี้เป็นนักกอล์ฟไทย 38 คน แชมป์จะได้รับเงินรางวัล 360,000 เหรียญสหรัฐฯ หรือราว 11.8 ล้านบาท โดยการแข่งขันรอบแรกจะออกสตาร์ทด้านหลุม 1 และหลุม 10 กลุ่มแรกเริ่มเวลา 06.15 น.

“Black Mountain Championship” ready to open in Hua Hin, competing for a total prize of 2 million dollars

The Asian Tour is hosting two consecutive International Series tournaments in Thailand, each with a total prize money of 2 million US dollars or approximately 66 million baht. The first is the Black Mountain Championship, which will be held from October 17-20 at Black Mountain Golf Club, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The second is the International Series Thailand, which will be held at Thai Country Club, Chachoengsao Province from October 24-27 . These two tournaments are the fifth and sixth of the ten International Series tournaments this year.
The latest movement of the Black Mountain Championship golf tournament on Wednesday, October 16, was the pro-am round with representatives of leading Asian Tour players, including Ratthanon Wannasrichan, the champion of the SJM Macau Open 2024 last week , Suthipat Prateepthirachai, the champion of Yangte TPC in Taiwan in September, and John Catlin, the American golfer who leads the Asian Tour Order of Merit rankings, gave interviews about their readiness before the first round of the competition the next day.
Pro Fluke-Rattanan Wannasrichan, who just won the SJM Macau Open last Sunday, finished tied for 5th in 2022 and did not make the cut last year. He said, “Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been up and down. After winning the Macau Open, I feel much more relieved and comfortable. Today, I played the Pro-Am. The weather was quite hot, with almost no wind. For this course, I have to drive in the fairway and onto the green in an easy-to-play spot. If I play the wrong way, I can easily lose points. Personally, I don’t want to expect too much from this tournament. I just want a Thai person to win the championship because there’s a chance that it will be held in Thailand.”
Protee-Suttipat Prateepthirachai, who finished 15th in the International Series Thailand 2023 and most recently won the Yangde TPC Championship in Taiwan in September, said, “I prepared my body a lot for this tournament because I have been playing for 3 consecutive years. Last week, I tried to protect my body as much as possible because the weather here is very hot. I tried to drink a lot of water. This year, the course conditions are more difficult than before and the rough is longer than every time I play. This course depends on the serve. If it is on the fairway, you can score a lot. Now, Thai golfers are much better. I hope there will be Thais on the leaderboard. As for my chance of winning the championship, I don’t know what the percentage is, but I will try my best.”
American John Catlin, winner of three European Tour titles and six Asian Tour titles, most recently winning the Macau International Series in March, is now the current Asian Tour rankings leader. “I feel very confident because I am very familiar with the course. I feel very comfortable. I have lived in Hua Hin for five or six years. It is always a bonus to come to Hua Hin whenever I am in good shape. So I am looking forward to a fun week. I know how I will play on the course and I have seen all the different conditions. I think that is definitely an advantage,” he said.
“The remaining six events in the International Series are always important to me. I’m going to try my best to play better than I have been playing. I’ve got to do what I do best. There are six more events, and it’s all about who plays the best golf and who plays the best golf will win, and I just want to make sure I do that,” Catlin concluded.
This is the 2024 Black Mountain Championship golf tournament. This week, there are 150 golfers in the competition, 38 of whom are Thai golfers. The champion will receive 360,000 US dollars or approximately 11.8 million baht in prize money. The first round of the competition will start on holes 1 and 10. The first group starts at 6.15 am.
