โคเวสโตร ประกาศความสำเร็จในการเพิ่มกำลังการผลิตฟิล์มโพลีคาร์บอเนต (PC) ชนิดพิเศษทั่วโลก ด้วยการก่อสร้างสายการผลิตใหม่ ณ นิคมอุตสาหกรรมมาบตาพุด จ.ระยอง ประเทศไทย ซึ่งได้เสร็จสมบูรณ์ตามกำหนดแล้ว โดยการลงทุนครั้งนี้อยู่ในระดับหลักหลายสิบล้านยูโร และจะสร้างงานใหม่ประมาณ 40 ตำแหน่ง
“โรงงานผลิตใหม่แห่งนี้ ได้ติดตั้งเทคโนโลยีอันล้ำสมัย เพื่อให้การผลิตมีประสิทธิภาพ และยังลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์” นายทอร์สเทน ดรายเออร์ (Thorsten Dreier) ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหารฝ่ายเทคโนโลยี (Chief Technology Officer) ของโคเวสโตร กล่าว “ด้วยกำลังการผลิตที่เพิ่มขึ้น เราสามารถตอบสนองความต้องการที่เพิ่มขึ้นของลูกค้าสำหรับฟิล์มชนิดพิเศษที่เป็นนวัตกรรม โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในเทคโนโลยีทางการแพทย์ ในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก และเสริมความแข็งแกร่งให้กับกลุ่มธุรกิจโซลูชันและผลิตภัณฑ์ชนิดพิเศษของเรา”
โคเวสโตรดำเนินงานโรงงานผลิตฟิล์มชนิดพิเศษในประเทศไทยมาตั้งแต่ปี 2550 กลุ่มผลิตภัณฑ์ประกอบด้วยฟิล์มโพลีคาร์บอเนตจากตระกูล Makrofol® และผลิตภัณฑ์ Bayfol® ที่ทำจากส่วนผสมโพลีคาร์บอเนต ฟิล์มชนิดพิเศษประสิทธิภาพสูงเหล่านี้ถูกนำไปใช้ในหลากหลายอุตสาหกรรม เช่น ด้านการแพทย์และสุขภาพ การขนส่ง และเอกสารระบุตัวตน เป็นต้น โดยประเทศไทยถือเป็นฐานการผลิตที่สำคัญของโคเวสโตรในภูมิภาคนี้ ซึ่งการลงทุนขยายกำลังการผลิตครั้งนี้แสดงให้เห็นถึงศักยภาพของไทย ด้วยทำเลที่ตั้งเชิงยุทธศาสตร์และบุคลากรที่มีความสามารถสูง รวมถึงความมุ่งมั่นในการสนับสนุนการเติบโตของตลาดและอุตสาหกรรม
“โรงงานผลิตใหม่นี้มีความสำคัญต่อเรา เพราะช่วยให้เราสามารถนำผลิตภัณฑ์ออกสู่ตลาดได้เร็วขึ้น และขยายการเข้าถึงตลาดในเอเชียแปซิฟิกไปพร้อมกัน” คุณออเกีย ดูร์นบอส (Aukje Doornbos) หัวหน้ากลุ่มธุรกิจฟิล์มชนิดพิเศษระดับโลก กล่าว “ด้วยนวัตกรรมที่มุ่งเน้นตลาดและการให้ความสำคัญกับลูกค้าที่มากขึ้น เราต้องการขับเคลื่อนการเติบโตให้กับโคเวสโตร”
ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2565 ศูนย์การผลิตมาบตาพุดของโคเวสโตร ได้รับการรับรองมาตรฐาน ISCC PLUS ซึ่งถือเป็นการรับรองความยั่งยืนระดับสากลสำหรับชีวมวลและพลังงานชีวภาพที่ครอบคลุมทุกขั้นตอนของห่วงโซ่คุณค่าและใช้ทั่วโลก ทำให้สามารถผลิตและจัดหาผลิตภัณฑ์แบบสมดุลมวลสารได้ ช่วยประหยัดวัตถุดิบฟอสซิลและลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ ในขณะที่คุณภาพของผลิตภัณฑ์แบบสมดุลมวลยังคงเหมือนกับผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ทำจากฟอสซิลล้วน ซึ่งลูกค้าสามารถใช้ผลิตภัณฑ์เหล่านี้ไปใช้เพื่อบรรลุเป้าหมายด้านความยั่งยืนของลูกค้าได้อีกด้วย

Covestro invests in expanding specialty film production capacity in Thailand to meet regional demand
Covestro has announced the completion of its global specialty polycarbonate (PC) film production capacity expansion with the construction of a new production line at the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, Thailand, which has been completed on schedule. The investment is in the tens of millions of euros and will create approximately 40 new jobs.
“This new production facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to enable efficient production and reduce carbon emissions,” said Thorsten Dreier, Covestro ’s Chief Technology Officer. “With the increased production capacity, we will be able to meet the growing demand from our customers for innovative specialty films, particularly in the medical technology sector, in the Asia Pacific region and strengthen our Specialty Solutions and Products business.”
Covestro has been operating specialty film production facilities in Thailand since 2007. The product portfolio includes Makrofol® polycarbonate films and Bayfol® polycarbonate blends. These high-performance specialty films are used in a variety of industries, including healthcare, transportation and identity documents. Thailand is a key production base for Covestro in the region and this investment in expanding its production capacity demonstrates the country’s potential, its strategic location, its highly skilled workforce and its commitment to supporting market and industry growth.

Since 2022, Covestro’s Map Ta Phut facility has been ISCC PLUS certified, an international sustainability certification for biomass and bioenergy covering all stages of the value chain and used worldwide. This enables the production and supply of mass-balanced products, saving fossil feedstock and reducing carbon emissions, while maintaining the same mass-balanced product quality as pure fossil products, which customers can use to meet their sustainability goals.
