ผลผลิตปัจจุบัน “ก้อง” สมเกียรติ จันทรา คือ “ฮีโร่นักแข่งไทย” ผู้สร้างประวัติศาสตร์วงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตไทยคนแรกของไทยที่คว้าชัยชนะและโพเดียมที่ทำได้กับการแข่งขันระดับ เวิลด์ กรังด์ปรีซ์ ซึ่งดวลความเร็วอยู่ในรุ่น โมโตทู เวิลด์ แชมเปี้ยนชิพ เป็นปีที่ 6 ติดต่อกัน
ระหว่างเส้นทาง 6 ปี “ก้อง-สมเกียรติ” ต้องฝึกฝนอย่างหนักเพื่อให้พร้อมทั้งด้านร่างกาย, จิตใจ และทักษะทุกด้าน เพราะไม่ง่ายเลยที่นักบิดจากเอเชีย จะปรับตัวได้อย่างรวดเร็วกับสนามแข่งในยุโรป ซึ่งแตกต่างจากสนามในไทยและเอเชียอย่างสิ้นเชิง เมื่อเทียบกับ “นักบิดสเปน-อิตาลี” ที่เติบโตมาในสภาพแวดล้อมที่คุ้นเคย ทั้งสภาพอากาศ และแข่งในสนามเหล่านั้นมาตั้งแต่เด็ก จึงเห็นได้ชัดว่า “นักบิดจากเอเชีย” มีความเสียเปรียบในจุดนี้พอสมควร
อย่างไรก็ดี ในปี 2022 “ฮอนด้า เรซ ทู เดอะ ดรีม” ได้ตอกย้ำความสำเร็จ “ก้อง-สมเกียรติ” สร้างประวัติศาสตร์ภาคภูมิใจของประเทศไทยบนเวทีโลกด้วยคว้าชัยชนะครั้งแรกใน โมโตทู ที่ อินโดนีเซีย ซึ่งในปีนั้นเองเขาคว้ามาได้ทั้งสิ้น 4 โพเดียม ก่อนจะยกระดับตัวเองอย่างต่อเนื่อง จนรั้งอันดับ 6 บนตารางแชมเปี้ยนชิพ โมโตทู 2023
แต่ทุกอย่างไม่ใช่งานง่าย… ฤดูกาล 2024 นักบิดแถวหน้าหลายคนเจอปัญหาในการปรับตัว เมื่อเปลี่ยนยางผู้สนับสนุน แน่นอนว่า “ก้อง-สมเกียรติ” ยอดนักบิดไทยเจ้าของรถแข่งหมายเลข 35 จาก อิเดมิตสึ ฮอนด้า ทีม เอเชีย ยังคงทุ่มเทและพยายามอย่างเต็มที่ รวมถึงการทำงานของทีมช่างที่ต้องหาข้อมูลเซ็ตติ้งร่วมกันอย่างหนัก เพื่อส่งสัญญาณที่ดีในการสู้ศึกทำผลงานที่ดีที่สุดตอบแทนกำลังใจของแฟนๆ ที่เชื่อมั่นส่งแรงใจเชียร์ตลอดมา และรวมทั้งสิ่งที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นในโฮมเรซ ThaiGP2024 ที่จะถึงนี้
ขณะเดียวกันในฤดูกาล 2024 นี้ “ฮอนด้า เรซ ทู เดอะ ดรีม” ยังคงเป็นครั้งแรกในประวัติศาสตร์ของวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตไทยที่มีนักบิดไทยลงแข่งขันแบบเต็มฤดูกาล 2 คลาสใน เวิลด์ กรังด์ปรีซ์ โดยมี “ก๊องส์” ธัชกร บัวศรี ดาวรุ่งชาวไทยอีกคน ที่ถูกผลักดันขึ้นสู่การแข่งขันระดับ เวิลด์ กรังด์ปรีซ์ เป็นปีแรก ในรุ่น “โมโตทรี” ด้วยรถแข่งหมายเลข 5 จาก ฮอนด้า ทีม เอเชีย หลังสั่งสมประสบการณ์จากรายการ “จูเนียร์จีพี” และ “โมโตจีพี รุกกีส์ คัพ” ซึ่งขณะนี้ยังคงทำงานอย่างหนักเพื่อเรียนรู้การเดินทางในศึกระดับ เวิลด์ กรังด์ปรีซ์
